Charles Lawhorn
Charles W. "Chas" Lawhorn, 43, North Coventry, passed away unexpectedly in a motorcycle accident on Wednesday, May 19, 2010, in Lititz.
Born in Phoenixville, he was a son of Naomi (Dise) Lawhorn, North Coventry; and the late Donald Lawhorn.
Chas was a 1984 graduate of Owen J. Roberts High School.
Motorcycles were his passion as he was a member of the Reading Motorcycle Club (RMC) and the American Motorcycle Association (AMA) and was associated with many other local motorcycle clubs, including Garden Spot Motorcycle Club, Pagoda Motorcycle Club and Blue Comets Motorcycle Club of Lansdale.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his sister, Robin Lawhorn, and her daughter, Cheyenne Theakston, Narvon; his daughter, Jocelyne McNulty, Pennsburg; his daughter's mother and dear friend, Amy McNulty, and her daughter, Alicia.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at Cattermole- Klotzbach Funeral Home, 600 Washington St., Royersford, on Tuesday, May 25, 2010, at 3 p.m. Officiating will be Chaplain Rich Grill. Friends will be received from 1 to 3 p.m.

John Tecklenburg

John Christian "Tex" Tecklenburg passed away
peacefully in his sleep the morning of April 27.
He was born Feb. 15, 1914, in Reading. He was the son of Paul Hartwig Deitrich Tecklenburg and Petra Susanna (Gantzel) Tecklenburg. John's parents and six sisters predecease him.
On June 9, 1940, he married Mary Grace Spohn in the Stonersville Chapel, Exeter Township. Grace passed away on July 14, 1992. They have two sons, John Christian Tecklenburg II and Christopher Hartwig Tecklenburg; a daughter-in-law, Dorothy F. (Curley) Tecklenburg; and two grandchildren, John Christian Tecklenburg III and Sabrina Alexis Tecklenburg.
John was a veteran of World War II. He served in the United States Navy on board the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid (CV11). He received a "Plank Owners" certificate, certificates for crossing the equator and for crossing the International Date Line, The Domain of the Golden Dragon. His duty station was in ship's services as a barber in the officer's barber shop, and his battle stations were in damage control and battle dressing.
Following the war, John and Grace purchased a home in the Borough of St. Lawrence, Berks County, Pennsylvania, where he became the proprietor of his own barber shop. In 1953, he was elected as a councilman in the Borough of St. Lawrence and served four years. He also served on the borough's planning commission.
In 1964, he was appointed mayor to complete the unexpired term of the previous burgess. He was elected to 10 straight terms as mayor, often running unopposed. He chose not to run for re-election in 2005 and completed 41 years as mayor in January 2006. He was twice president of the Mayor's Association of Berks County.
In 1961, he received the Service Above Self Award from the Rotary Club of Mt. Penn. He received a certificate of appreciation for 28 years of service from the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Association in 1986. That year, he also received The Chrostwaite Award from the Pennsylvania State Association of Boroughs for 26 years of service. Additionally, for 17 years, he volunteered his services as a barber at Bethany Children's Home.
Additionally, he was member of Schwarzwald United Church of Christ; a member of Lodge No. 62, Free and Accepted Masons of Pennsylvania; The Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry; Rajah Shrine, A.A.O.N.M.S.; Washington Camp No. 230, Patriotic Order Sons of America; Oley Post No. 0878, American Legion; and a past president of the Reading Motorcycle Club.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Burial in Forest Hills Memorial Park.

Linwood P. De Long
Linwood P. De Long, 68, Alsace Township, passed away April 21, 2010, at 9:43 p.m. in his residence.
He was the husband of Dolores J. (Lill) De Long.
Born in Krumsville on Nov. 23, 1941, he was a son of the late John De Long and Alice (Moyer) De Long.
He was employed for 16 years by Cobra Anchors in Temple as a press operator, retiring as a leader in 2003.
Linwood was a member of Lower Alsace Fire Company, Alsace Manor Fire Company, Oley Fire Company, the Northmont Club, Pikeville Rod & Gun Club and the DIPS and was a lifetime member of the Reading Motorcycle Club.
He was a member of New Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Linwood was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two brothers, Walter J. De Long, husband of Dorothy, Oley; and Donald L. De Long, husband of Shirley, Barto; two sisters, Pauline (De Long), wife of Lowvell Bartlet, Walnuttown; and Thelma M. De Long, Gilbertsville; and two goddaughters, Stacey L. (Moyer), Gambler and Deneen L. De Long.
He was predeceased by a brother, John Y. De Long, and a sister, Evelyn M. (De Long) Witwer.
Linwood will be greatly missed by his beloved dog, Bambi.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. in Bean Funeral Home, North 16th and Rockland streets, Hampden Heights. The Rev. Marilyn E. Haseman will officiate. Burial will be made in Spies Zion Cemetery. Friends will be received Monday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
