Our drag racing
is a double elimination system which means you have to lose
twice to be eliminated from winning first or second place
points and prize money. However, if your class has a sufficient
number of entrants to allow payouts for third or even fourth
or lower place, we then run a separate SINGLE elimination
ladder for those who have lost twice to determine the third
or fourth or lower place position point or payout winners.
Do not pack up after 2 losses unless you are sure the class
is only paying out for first or second.
Our classes are basically
determined by the engine displacement and if the frame
and/or swingarm have modifications. The technical committee
personnel
are responsible at signup and tech inspection for determining
the lowest class you may compete in, however you are permitted
to enter and race in one or more higher classes. ( A 600cc
street bike may also race in a larger displacement street
class as well as in 600cc or larger modified classes).
On any raceday, the classes which will be run and the number
of finishing positions that receive a payout are determined
by the Competition Committee based on the number of entrants
in each class that day. Three entrants constitute a class.
Classes may be combined and racers bumped up into other
classes
by the Competition Committee when the ladders are determined
before the riders meeting. The classes to be run and the
number
of finishing position payouts are announced at the riders
meeting and no changes are allowed after eliminations
begin.
Your ladder position and possible byes are determined
by
a variety of random chance selections. We do NOT permit
you to run your bye runs and if your competitor breaks
or fails
to show on time, you must make a clean pass in your
assigned lane. Round one lane assignments are also determined
by various methods and we endeavor to alternate your lane
thereafter.
No matter how many classes you have entered, all entrants
are allowed only 3 or less practice runs depending
on
when you sign up. If you sign up within 1 1/2 hour of the
posted
sign up time you receive 3 runs, 2 runs if you sign
up during
the next 1/2 hour, and 1 if you sign up during the
final 1/2 hour.
A DAY AT THE RACES
Racers enter at the top
gate and find a pit spot (first come first serve), unload
your
bike and go to the tower with your bike and helmet
for
signup and tech inspection. At the table by the tower,
each racer
must purchase his/her point series entrant number at
the first race they attend, your number is good for entire
season, it is reserved for the next season, and includes
the yearend
awards banquet.
Next go to the lower tower room where
you
sign up, pay for the classes you wish to race in that
day, and receive your practice tickets. The sign up and
tech personnel will assist in determining which class or
classes
you may
enter and will give your technical inspection.
We run
practice
for 1 1/2 hours starting 1 hr after the posted sign
up time. If you sign up within 11/2 hours of the posted time
you are
allowed 3 runs anytime during practice, 2 rounds if
you
sign up during the next 1/2 hour and 1 round if you sign
up during
the final 1/2 hour. Your tickets will be collected
in the staging lanes. The start and end of each practice
period
will be announced and after practice ends, we have
a short
break while the classes and ladders are established
until the riders meeting begins at the tower. All the days
classes, entrants, payouts, and/or final adjustments will
be set at the riders meeting and competition will begin at
the
announced
time.
The youth classes will be completely run through
first and the classes IN GENERAL will be run round
by round as
listed in the rule book. HOWEVER the running order
may be varied as determined by the class sizes, multiple
class entrants,
and the overall pace of competition by the tower
personnel.
The class and lineup being run is posted on the
tower
board for the staging lane personnel and announced
along with
the next class and lineup to be run. We also announce
the next
class to get ready for the line up announcement.
We are usually leniant but the starter will eventually
put you
on a two
minute clock.
Lane 1 is always on the left side
of the track and stage lanes and the starter will wave
you to
the line,
burnouts will not be allowed ahead of the rearmost
line
on the start pad, and prompt prestage and stage
is expected and monitored.
No speeding , burnouts, or unsafe
riding
is
tolerated on the return road . Your timeslip
(reaction time, 60 ft, ET, MPH) is printed out under the
tower
deck. The
race winner is determined by the finish beams
regardless of how the timeslip is read. Centerline fouls
are
the sole decision of the starter.
We operate a Portatree
track
system
with a network computer system and provide
2 racer timeslips with date and time, class and round,
reaction time, 60'
time, and ET/MPH. We have a separate monitor
for
the announcer which provides for names, bike info,
and
racer sponsors
to
be announced along with the results and timing
info.
If you have never tried drag racing before and
are not
familiar
with the christmas tree starting system,
check this website for lots of info (resources/articles)
and
a good
practice
tree.
